Shame is a soul-eating emotion” – C.G. Jung
People with attachment and developmental trauma often carry deep shame and guilt, which can make it difficult to build self-worth and a loving relationship with themselves. In this workshop, we will explore the roots and effects of internalized shame, especially in relation to PTSD and attachment trauma. Chronic shame usually arises from dysfunctional family systems, social stigma, and childhood wounds of abandonment and humiliation. When you face deep rejection and your needs are shamed, you may see yourself as flawed or “wrong”. This self-alienation can lead to issues like self-criticism and critical monitoring, fear of exposure, perfectionism, isolation, an inferiority complex, and even disorders such as narcissism, addiction, depression and other related issues. This workshop aims to help you reconnect with the disowned parts of yourself that carry shame and to create space for addressing fears of rejection and abandonment. You will learn how to build a compassionate relationship between your loving adult self (the “good parent”) and your inner child, helping you find a wholesome approach to dealing with shame.
What to expect:
We will use inner parts work, rooted in schema therapy, to better understand dysfunctional behavior patterns, wounded inner child parts, and belief systems.
