HEALING SHAME

Atachment Trauma & Reparenting Your Inner Child:
Rebonding with Disowned Parts

WORKSHOP

6. Oktober 2024

12.30 - 15.30

 Shame is a soul-eating emotion” – C.G. Jung

People with attachment and developmental trauma often carry deep shame and guilt, which can make it difficult to build self-worth and a loving relationship with themselves. In this workshop, we will explore the roots and effects of internalized shame, especially in relation to PTSD and attachment trauma. Chronic shame usually arises from dysfunctional family systems, social stigma, and childhood wounds of abandonment and humiliation. When you face deep rejection and your needs are shamed, you may see yourself as flawed or “wrong”. This self-alienation can lead to issues like self-criticism and critical monitoring, fear of exposure, perfectionism, isolation, an inferiority complex, and even disorders such as narcissism, addiction, depression and other related issues. This workshop aims to help you reconnect with the disowned parts of yourself that carry shame and to create space for addressing fears of rejection and abandonment. You will learn how to build a compassionate relationship between your loving adult self (the “good parent”) and your inner child, helping you find a wholesome approach to dealing with shame.

What to expect:

  • Psychoeducational Explanation: Understanding what shame is, both psychologically and physiologically, and how its shaping our limited believes and patterns
  • Skills for Emotional Self-Regulation: Techniques to foster self-esteem, reduce shame spirals and abusive self-talk
  • Introducing Self-Compassion (MBCL): Learning to treat ashamed parts and coping patterns with compassion, and offering loving care to your inner child through limited reparenting.
  • Imagery Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy: Using IRRT, a trauma healing tool, to address and rescript the wound of shame.
  • Addressing Hidden Issues: Exploring a secret in a one-on-one exercise without speaking it out loud.
  • Self-Inquiry and Dyad Work: Engaging in mindful self-reflection and sharing in small groups
  • Powerful Prayer & Ritual: Integrating unconditional self-acceptance and connection

We will use inner parts work, rooted in schema therapy, to better understand dysfunctional behavior patterns, wounded inner child parts, and belief systems.

What to bring:

  • Comfortable clothing for yoga and meditation
  • A journal and pen for reflective exercises
  • A water bottle to stay hydrated
  • An open heart and mind ready to embrace a transformative experience
